Darby Berg Grande Prairie Athletics
Placing second in NPHL scoring and leading the Grande Prairie Athletics in scoring has earned Darby Berg Rookie-of-the-Year honours.
Berg led the A’s with 24-12-36 points and was in the race to win the NPHL scoring title until a late surge from Dawson Creek’s Wes Shipton gave him the title by four points (17-23-40 points).
Berg received five of seven first place votes and received 29 points in voting, well ahead of Dawson Creek’s Brandon Rowley (20) and Rylee Hebert of Valleyview (14).
Berg become the first Athletic to win Rookie-of-the -Year since Nolan Trudeau in 2016-17 and sixth overall. Other Athletics to win the award include Devin Bell in 2014-15, Brennan Jones in 2005-06, Jason Roche in 2004-05, and Jordan Bombier in 2002-03..
