The official unveiling of the Homestead Rock Cairn took place on June 12, 2011 at Kleskun Hill Park, Alberta with guest speakers The Honorable Mel Knight, MLA Grande Prairie-Smoky, and Everett McDonald Reeve, County of Grande Prairie No. 1. Hundreds of people took part in this dedication including some of the relatives of those being honored. Some of the rocks came from what was left of the original homes of those settlers.
