630 CHED For a considerable amount time 630 CHED-AM played Top 40 Music and was the top radio station in Edmonton, Alberta. It was "Thee" radio station to listen to and were very lucky to ever work there. During the years from 1976 to 1978 it was a must to have a 630 CHED logo on their vehicle as the CHED Guys were often in the CHED Van looking for stickers and giving away $100 bills. The studios at that time were located at 100006-107 Street. 630 CHED was one of the first radio stations in North America to introduce a computerized music system that announcers could view and select music from a playlist on a screen. There were many well known personalities that made their home playing the music or reading the news/sports and kept 630 CHED in the forfront until FM Radio started to draw listeners from the AM frequency. It was in 1993 that CHED stopped the music and became a Talk Radio Station.
