CFGP was one of the many radio and television stations that helped Terry Fox complete his dream by helping raise money for cancer research.

CTV broadcast a five-hour televised fundraiser program. Premier Bill Bennett of British Columbia announced they would donate a million dollars. Imperial Oil and McDonald's were also donating big sums.

Ken Geiger eventually took over the morning show at CFGP and Ken Connors moved into the afternoon show. Ken Geiger later moved to CJVI Victoria BC, a sister radio station. Ken Connors left radio in 1981.
