CFGP 1973 - VAUGHN RIPPER

Vaughn Ripper reads the news on CFGP 1973

CFGP AM
SUN FM -Rock 97.7
Grande Prairie, Alberta

In 1973 the 8AM news was the most important in Grande Prairie as that is when most of the people listened to the news.

Vaughn Ripper was one of the newsmen at CFGP at that time. Here he is reading wire copy, that made up most of his news and sports. Back then there were very few interviews done. There was a lot of local sports coverage which included broadcasting the Grande Prairie Athletic Hockey games.

The news studio was next to the main studio. Behind the news studio was the studio used by Jack Soars and his open line show that started at 11am each morning.
